theRUNDOWN Review: Week 9

Gross week for my top team, I wish I would have played some of my sleepers. Anyway, this is how my bad fantasy day broke down… 92 fantasy points, under 100 fantasy points is not good here…

QB: Matt Schaub vs. Minnesota: Matty got hurt in the first half after not playing so well to start with. 139 yards and an interception gives me 3 fantasy points from my quarterback this week – awesome.

RB: Matt Forte vs. Detroit: 126 rushing yards for Forte, but the normally productive pass catcher got less chances this week with Rex Grossman taking over going into the 2nd half. He had just 1 catch for 5 yards. His total output was solid, and he was a big reason the Bears came back to beat the Lions, but he got me just 13 fantasy points.

RB: Earnest Graham vs. Kansas City: 62 yards rushing, 5 catches for 29 yards, and 1 three yard touchdown pass – he didn’t do anything great, but Graham did a little bit of it all, enough to pile me up 19 fantasy points for the week.

FLEX: Brandon Marshall vs. Miami: 2 catches for 27 yards? 4 points? Uh oh.

WR: Larry Fitzgerald vs. St. Louis: 6 catches for 81 yards got me 14 points, but once again Boldin got a touchdown and Fitzy didn’t.

WR: Andre Johnson vs. Minnesota: 4 grabs for 62 yards and a touchdown, Johnson is a beast but the Texans looked off early. Still, 16 points isn’t too shabby.

TE: Zach Miller vs. Atlanta: 2 catches, 9 yards, 2 fantasy points. Not good. The Raiders had 31 passing yards on the day. Ha.

K: Matt Prater vs. Miami: A 50 yarder and two extra points, Prater got me 7 – should have kept going with Gostkowski.

D: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle: 4 sacks, just 7 points, and under 300 yards of total offense against the Eagles, they got me 13 fantasy points – not as good as I hoped, but they absolutely dominated this game.

PAPA’S Week 1 SLEEPERS

David Garrad: No touchdowns, just 229 yards and a pick. Not a good day for my top sleeper QB. F

Chad Pennington: Chad had 281 yards, but no TDs and a pick to make him a 9 point scorer on the week. D

Maurice Jones Drew: 2 catches for 29 yards, 10 carries for 33 yards and a touchdown – 13 fantasy points, not the worst day ever, but goodness, how bad has it gotten for the Jags rushing attack? C

Justin Fargas: 6 carries for 23 yards, and that’s it. But get this, the Raiders had only 14 minutes to Atlanta’s 15 minutes of possession. Ridiculous. F

Donnie Avery: Back to reality. F

Chad Johnson: Two touchdown catches for Mr. Johnson – 5 grabs for 36 yards as well. Not a huge day, but good enough to get the Bengals a win – 20 points for Chad. A

Greg Olsen: 2 catches for 10 yards. Miss. F

New England Patriots: Not a bad day for the Pats, but they missed some chances to make some big things happen, and they ended up with a pretty normal day defensively, not allowing a lot of points or touchdowns, but not doing much to get points either. The Pats gave me 5 fantasy points – what’s new… D-

Papa’S Week 6 Splinter-Butts (bench him, son)

Big Ben Roethlisberger: Well, he was 5-17 with basically nothing by way of yardage and then he took a step and fell into the end zone, giving him at least some points for his owners. That being said, it wasn’t enough to make me wrong here – and that makes me happy I guess.

Ryan Grant: 20 carries for 86 yards, not a bad day for Grant, but his 8 fantasy points weren’t amazing by any means.

Edgerrin James: “For eternity folks, bench him that long. I’ve been one of his biggest fans, but there’s a time when you have to let go, when he’s still a strong bench him candidate against the Rams, now’s that time.” Didn’t play a snap, and you have to believe me now.

Terrell Owens: His 4th quarter meaningless touchdown makes his day look better, he had 4 catches for less than 30 yards prior to that last one. 14 points for TO against New York.
