East Carolina Pirates vs Tulsa Golden Hurricane Pick

East Carolina Pirates @ Tulsa Hurricane (-5.5) Pick: Call me nuts, but I like the Hurricane to snap their 4 game losing streak and beat the East Carolina Pirates this Sunday Night. After starting the season 4-1, the Hurricane have had a very tough schedule down the stretch, and while they’ve played solid football (for the most part), they just haven’t been able to get over the hump and get a victory. They lost by a touchdown to Boise State, 4 points to UTEP, and single point to Houston last Saturday. They got beat by a couple scores against SMU between the UTEP and Houston game, but like I said, it’s not like they’re getting whooped.

On the bright side, both of these teams lost to SMU. Both of them have lost to basically every good team they’ve played thus far. I just think it’s time for Tulsa to break out and win a game. They have lots of options offensively, they do a lot of things well, and can really put up points. Against an East Carolina team that can really struggle and has been limited through the air of late, I think Tulsa can just out-gun them. I think if East Carolina had Tulsa’s schedule, they’d be lucky to be 4-5.

The better team is the home team, despite records, despite their recent losses, the better team should come out and win this game. I’m taking Tulsa to win, I’m guessing by 10-14 points.

Virginia Tech Hokies vs East Carolina Pirates Free Pick

Virginia Tech Hokies @ East Carolina Pirates (+13) Free Pick: First of all, the Pirates are underrated. They run the ball well and have competed in every game they’ve played in this year. How do they go about doing that? Well, they can run the ball effectively against pretty much anyone. They’ve out-rushed four of their last five opponents, going 4-1 during that stretch.

I’m not saying they’re going to come out and out-rush the Hokies, but Virginia Tech has had a lot of trouble with teams that can run the ball. In fact, in each of their 3 losses the Hokies have been out-rushed. In four of their five losses against the spread, they’ve been out-rushed. Like I said, they struggle against opponents that can run the ball, not just in the win/loss column but against the spread as well.

The Pirates have stepped up their defensive pressure over their last 5 games, not once allowing more than 21 points. The Hokies have been out-played in 3 of their last 4, luckily straight talent got them the win over Duke, and they played well against Boston College. 59% of the public likes Virginia Tech.

The Pirates played and won last Thursday Night against Memphis, while Virginia Tech is playing on short rest, having only 4 practice days between games after losing to North Carolina last Saturday. East Carolina has covered in each of their last two meetings with the Hokies, including their first win since 1992, a 27-22 win over Va Tech last season. I’ll take the home team and the points.

East Carolina Pirates vs Memphis Tigers Free NCAA Pick

East Carolina Pirates (-4) @ Memphis Tigers Pick: This is a Tuesday game, and I’m sure standard mid-week rates apply, the home dog usually seems like a nice bet in that case. But I don’t see it here. East Carolina has downed Memphis three straight seasons, and covered seven straight. While the home team has won 7 of the last 10 in this series, and East Carolina is 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games on the road, I just don’t see any value in a Memphis team that, quite frankly, hasn’t looked worth a bet yet this year. Against North Carolina and West Virginia (two solid teams, both spending time in the Top 25 this year) the Pirates were within a score late in the 4th quarter. They’ve been in every game they have played. Memphis is more of a question mark every time out. They’ve looked good twice, mediocre once, and kicked around the rest of the times. Against like opponents, the Tigers are 0-2 while the Pirates 2-0. That doesn’t always matter too much, but with all the other things to like about ECU, that just helps the decision come easier. Good luck!

Free Picks: Week 13

Virginia Tech Hokies (-3.5) @ Virginia Cavaliers: win
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: Belmont)

33-21, the Hokies have a spot in the ACC Championship game, and they could very well find themselves in a nice BCS Bowl game at season’s end.

Tulane Green Wave @ East Carolina Pirates (-12): win
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: 5Dimes)

35-12, and Tulane scored half their points in the final quarter, already down huge. The Pirates were just the way better team, and that’s all there is to it.

Tennessee Volunteers @ Kentucky Wildcats (-3): loss
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: Belmont)

It came down to the 3rd overtime, and Tennessee got it done when it counted the most .I thought I had this game when it went into the extra session, but as it turned out , my luck wasn’t with my on Saturday.

Texas El Paso Minors @ Central Florida Knights (-19): loss
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: Belmont)

The Central Florida Knights waited too long to dominate this game, winning by just 16 after smacking UTEP around in the 4th quarter. I lose yet another game by a field goal. Blast!

Florida Atlantic Owls (-11.5) @Florida International Golden Panthers: win
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: 5Dimes)

The FAU Owls had an easy time of it on Saturday. They were up 35-3 at half, and while the 4th quarter produced 40 total points and killed under bettors everywhere, it wasn’t enough to oust me, as the Owls rolled winning by 32 points in this instate rivalry game.

LUCKY LESTER’S Free NCAA Football Picks

Free Picks: Week 13

Virginia Tech Hokies (-3.5) @ Virginia Cavaliers:
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: Belmont)

Va-Tech has won 7 of the last 8 meetings between these two ACC programs. Also, The Hokies have absolutely dominated opponents since their unpredictable last minute loss at the hands of the Boston College Eagles. They killed Georgia Tech, FSU, and Miami in back to back to back games, and honestly, they just look a lot better than they were earlier in the season. I know Virginia wins a lot of football games, and plays tight with everyone, but I think the Hokies are just on another level in this one.

Tulane Green Wave @ East Carolina Pirates (-12):
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: 5Dimes)

I liked the Green Wave last week, and I took them for a victorious ride around the block, but East Carolina has too much offensive power for any sort of Greenish wave to stop. The Pirates are coming off a tough loss to Marshall on the road, and Tulane is all getty about their current two game winning streak (the first time they’ve won back to back games this season). I don’t see this one being close.

Tennessee Volunteers @ Kentucky Wildcats (-3):
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: Belmont)

The Vols lucked out big time when Vanderbilt new who they were, didn’t crown them, but left them off the hook nonetheless. Tennessee won their 4th straight, and they were lucky to do so. First of all, that’s too many wins in a row for the inconsistent Volunteers, and Kentucky hasn’t played great football in any of their last 3 games. That being said, I’m almost sure this thing will even out with a pretty big Wildcat win on Saturday.

Texas El Paso Minors @ Central Florida Knights (-19):
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: Belmont)

I have a feeling the Minors will fall victim for the 5th time in a row, and lose their 5th game against the spread in the their last 6 chances. Call me crazy, but the Knights can put up points with the best of them, and Texas El Paso, while they’ve managed more than a few close games, they haven’t played any good teams well. The Knights are good, despite their 64-12 loss to South Florida. What can I say? Every team has a bad game.

Florida Atlantic Owls (-11.5) @ Florida International Golden Panthers:
(Line: Wednesday, 6:00pm EST: 5Dimes)

The Golden Panthers wouldn’t win against Duke, and the Owls are actually a pretty good football team. While FAU hasn’t won many games by 12 points or more (1 to be exact) they also haven’t played a team even close to as bad as the Panthers. The Owls will toss 4 or 5 touchdown passes while the Panthers fall behind, only compounding their inefficiencies by throwing interceptions that result in more points for the Owls. It’s a tangled web they weave…
