2006 Fantasy Football Review – Week 5

This Week’s Top Team (McNabb, F. Taylor, Deuce, Baskett, Galloway, Gates, Robbie Gould, and the Vikings) scored 168…. My team scored 87. I’ve had better days.

QB: Marc Bulger: Marc had a decent day against the Packers, not as great as I expected, but he threw for 220 yards and 2 scores, good for 17 points and the 2nd best day for quarterbacks.

RB: Brian Westbrook: Westy had 88 total yards and a touchdown good for 12 fantasy points. It wasn’t really what I was hoping for, but it wasn’t bad either. His fumble docked him a bit.

RB: Larry Johnson: LJ Had 140+ total yards, 106 receiving and only 36 on the ground, but he did score, giving him 17 points and ranking him 3rd among RB’s.

WR: Torry Holt: 40 yards and a score got me 10 total points. Top 15, but not awesome, that’s for sure.

WR: Marvin Harrison: Thank Goodness Marv caught a TD, because it was getting bad. He had 29 yards, giving him only 8 points. But that’s 6 more than he would have had.

TE: Tony Gonzalez: 1 catch for 25 yards… Officially Tony is no longer a top notch fantasy tight end. 2 points for me.

K: Jeff Wilkins: My boy was 3 for 3 with 2 extra points for a fat score of 11. Jeff is a stud. He only ranked 6th among kickers, but you can’t get more consistent than Jeff.

D: Colts: The Colts had 10, making me sorry for not picking the Panthers with my real pick instead of my sleeper. Damn.

LUCKY’S Week 5 SLEEPERS – I’m grading my sleepers from now on. A for great, B for good, C for decent, and F for I failed. This week, 4 A’s a C and two F’s. Championship!

Matt Leinart: Like I said, Matt won’t struggle, he’ll find Boldin and Fitzgerald for scores. Larry got hurt but he caught a TD, as did Boldin. Matt thre for 253 and 2 scores with 1 interception. He produced 16 fantasy points, not bad for a rookie. A (scored in the top 6 of QB’s)

Frank Gore: Frank didn’t fumble but then again, he didn’t score either… However, he did have 170+ total yards, including 134 rushing. I got 16 points from Frank, 6th among RB’s. (A)

Laurence Maroney: LoMo had a 45 yard day, good for 4 points and an F in the sleeper department. Can I take a C for this one?

Troy Williamson: Troy didn’t do dick. I don’t think it’s his fault as much as Brad Johnson’s eyes are too old and slow to be able to judge Troy’s speed. Either I get another F.

Greg Jennings: Greg had 105 yards and a score for 16 fantasy points, putting him all alone in 3rd place among WR’s. Not bad for a sleeper start from a rookie. In fact, yep, A.

Daniel Graham: Daniel did nothing, didn’t even suit up I reckon. But the bottom line is he scored a fat 0 – that’s grounds for an F.

Carolina: Carolina scored 24 points, in my league, good for 5th among defenses. They only allowed 12 points to the Brownies, just as I had predicted, they were in shut down mode on Sunday. A.

LUCKY’S Week 5 WUSSIES

Jake Plummer: Nice stat line snake… 100 yards a TD and a pick… 7 points… gross.

Edgerrin James: 71 rushing yards, no scores, 44 yards receiving. 11 points. Not bad, better than I imagined, but still not great.

Javon Walker: Javon’s 62 yards against the Ravens is amazing considering Jake only had 100 yards passing total. But 6 points isn’t too good either.

Reggie Bush: Reg had 9 carries for 23 yards… That’s a 2.6 yard per carry average. He did return a punt for a game winner though. But I didn’t’ get any points for that. 63 receiving yards gave him 8. Not bad, but not great.

2006 Fantasy Football Review – Week 4

This Week’s Top Team: Lets see how Mr. Lester did. 130 Fantasy Points…. Not too shabby.

QB: Donovan McNabb: D-Nabb had 4 touchdowns (2 passing, 2 running) for 20 points on touchdowns along. He had 47 yards rushing for 4 points, and 288 yards passing for 11 points. Add those up and you get a stud tallying 35 fantasy points. Nice.

RB: Brian Westbrook: Westy didn’t play, and right before the game I switched him with Brian Westbrook because he was my only option. Not the best option but, Correll had 498 yards rushing and 39 yards receiving for 7 points. Better than notta.

RB: Larry Johnson: Grandma-ma only went for 1 score, but his 100 rushing yards and 41 receiving yards gave him 20 points on the week.

WR: Chris Chambers: Chambers continues to dissapoint, just like the rest of the Dolphins, as Miami lost to Houston. Chris got a late touchdown, though, and his 14 yards rushing, 28 yards receiving, and one touchdown got me 9 whole points.

WR: Steve Smith: Stevey dialed up 87 yards receiving and 1 touchdown against the Saints. I expected more, but, 16 points will do just fine.
TE: Ben Watson: watson only had 1 catch for 35 yards, yet another reason why the Patriots make me sick. 3 points for me.

K: Jeff Wilkins: Once again, Wilkins nutted up and got me some much needed points. His three 40-yarders, one 19-yarder, and three extra points rolled me 18 fantasy points… from a kicker. Damn.

D: Cowboys: The ‘Boys had their best defensive performance of the season, tallying 22 points for my squad. 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles brought me another big game out of my D.

LUCKY’S Week 2 SLEEPERS

Charlie Frye: Frye’s 3 touchdowns helped out his early turnovers to the tune of 15 fantasy points, out producing Tom Brady, Drew Bledsoe, Mike Vick, and Jake Delhomme among others.

Kevin Jones: Jonesy tied for 3rd in the league with 21 fantasy points. A 4.3 yard per rush average, 93 yards and two scores did him well. Good little sleeper.

Julius Jones: Jonesy number 2 roared as well, tallying 18 points after 122 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Braylon Edwards: Braylon had a decent day, 6 catches for 75 yards, but without a score, he wasn’t the best play around.

Reggie Brown: Reggie ended up getting hurt as well, after a slow start. Not a good play.

Eric Johnson: Eric Johnson had a fantasy point. That wasn’t so hot.

Jaguars DST: Jacksonville fell asleep on defense, allowing 36 points to the Skins, 18 to Santana Moss alone. Not a good week for my bottom half sleepers.

LUCKY’S Week 1 WUSSIES

Kurt Warner: And by the 4th quarter, Warner as a starting presence in the NFL was no more. Hope you took my advice.

Thomas Jones: T Jones impressed me with a nice game against the Hawks. Or maybe Seattle just depressed me with the worst game I’ve ever seen them play. Jones had 98 yards, and two touchdowns. The was the 3rd highest scoring runner. Not a wussy!

Chad Johnson: Chad didn’t have great numbers, that’s for sure. He had 60 yards receiving as the Patriots handled the Bengals easily.

Reuben Droughns: Reub had 12 fantasy points, which is a nice performance for him this year. 100 rushing, 20 receving. I was wrong about this one.

2006 Fantasy Football Review – Week 3

Week 3’s Fantasy Points: 96… Yikes. Better next time, guaranteed.

QB: Donovan McNabb’s 296 yards and 3 touchdowns hooked me up with 19 fantasy points…. I’ll be looking for more this Monday Night in Green Bay.

RB: Steven Jackson remains touchdownless, despite my claims. He had 11 fantasy points after tallying 120+ total yards from scrimmage.

RB: Warrick Dunn did just a little bit more than the Falcons did against New Orleans, which was good for 4 fatnasy points after 44 yards rushing. Ouch.

WR: Darrell Jackson had 57 yards and 2 touchdowns for 17 points, that ranked him 10th.

WR: Donte Stallworth didn’t play, that hurt, switched him with Reggie Brown at the last moment, he got me 106 yards, and 10 points.

TE: L.J. Smith corralled a touchdown and 19 total receiving yards for a fat 7 points.

K: Jeff Wilkins had 3 field goals and an extra point, bringing his fantasy total to 11.

D: Baltimore Ravens scored 17 fantasy points, not nearly as much as I had expected, but only 2 teams were better than them on Sunday.

LUCKY’S Week 3 SLEEPERS

Jon Kitna: Jon was the #4 fantasy quarterback this week, reminding us how bad the Packers defense can be.

Laurence Maroney: LauMo had 7 fantasy points, and only 18 rushing yards. The Bengals held down the Patriots nicely.

Correll Buckhalter: Correll only had 30 yards for 3 points, but he was worth a shot in the dark.

Matt Jones: Jones didn’t play, and subsequently, neither did the Jaguars passing attack. No points for Matt.

Lee Evans: Lee collected 100 yards for 10 fantasy points. Not too shabby.

LUCKY’S Week 3 WUSSIES

Eli Manning: Eli owners were lucky his coach let him play the 4th quarter, because when the game mattered, Eli had 3 interceptions and 0 touchdowns. Late meaningless drives gave Eli 17 fantasy points though, so I was wrong about Eli’s fantasy struggles.

Reuben Droughns: Droughns didn’t play, so he didn’t score at all…. Good call by me, eh?

Mushin Muhammad: Rexxy found Mush enough for 11 fantasy points, 118 yards, now that’s not the stuff of wussies… check out Plax for that rundown.

Plaxico Burress: I told you so. Plax’s 1 catch for 23 yards and a fumble got him just as many points as Reuben, Donte Stallworth, Barry Sanders, and Joe Montana this week. 0. Yeehaw!

2006 Fantasy Football Review – Week 2

How’d Ol’ Lucky do? 143 fantasy points… if you had these guys, the other drafters in your league suck, and you not only won this weeks game, but you’ll probably go undefeated!

QB: Peyton Manning against the Houston: “3 TD’s is almost a given.” As it turns out I was right. What I didn’t expect was 400 passing yards from Mr. Lazer Arm. His 400 and 3 TD’s were good for 28 points in my league.

RB: Shaun Alexander against the Cardinals: Shaun didn’t look like his dominant MVP self, but he did rush for 89 yards and a TD, good for 14 points.

RB: LaDainian Tomlinson against the Titans: LT was out by the 4th quarter but that didn’t stop him from posting 122 total yards and 2 scores against the Titans. That performance rung up 24 fantasy points for me.

WR: Darrell Jackson against the Cardinals: 127 yards and a touchdown were good enough to be the 4th highest point scorer in my league, 18 big ones.

WR: Torry Holt against the 49ers: Torry only had 30 yards on his 5 catches, but one of them was for a score, giving me 9 points from the guy on an off day. Not bad.

TE: Antonio Gates against the Raiders: gates hasn’t proven to be a super fantasy stud yet, but his 55 yards gave me 5 points from the TE spot, not too shabby.

K: Jeff Wilkins against the Niners: Jeff didn’t rack up 21 fantasy points this week, but two 40-yarders and an extra point hooked me up with 9 fantasy points.

D: Baltimore Ravens against the Raiders: What do you know, the Ravens were the highest scoring defense in my league by 14 points over #2 Chicago. Their 3 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, 6 sacks, 162 yards given up, and 6 points against hooked my up with 36 big ones, the highest scoring fantasy option in Week 2.

LUCKY’S Week 2 SLEEPERS

Phillip Rivers: This young kid is going to be a good one. He completed 25 of 35 for 235 yards and a score in a laugher against the Titans.

Tatum Bell: Mike Bell played as well, so Tatum only got 16 carries. He averaged 4.3 per carry and rushed for 69 yards, but no touchdowns so the fantasy points were limited.

Dominic Rhodes: Dominic might have a tough time holding the starting spot with the way Joseph Addai played this week in Houston. Rhodes wasn’t a complete waste though, he had 50 total yards and a touchdown.

Braylon Edwards: Braylon came out and showed some of his grand talent by taking 4 passes for over 100 yards. He’ll be something special some day.

Troy Williamson: Troy had a nice day against the Panthers, 102 receiving yards. He’s going to be a full-blown must start sooner rather than later. ??

Ben Watson: Only 39 yards for Benny… I’m expecting a lot more from this guy.

Jaguars DST: Can you say interceptions, sacks, and a big fat shutout of the Super Bowl Champs? Yeah, I’d say they were a nice pick here.

LUCKY’S Week 2 WUSSIES

Aaron Brooks: Negative points fantasy wise, injury, never to start again?

Edgerrin James: Though Edge produced 9 fantasy points, he still hasn’t ran like the Cards hoped he would. Most of his yards came late in the game when the Cardinals needed to be passing the ball. Maybe Dennis Green had Edge on his fantasy squad and he needed some points?

Randy Moss: 2 catches 32 yards…. Yeehaw!

LaMont Jordan: See above. LaMont didn’t have a fantasy impact. 19 carries for 35 yards, that’s 1.8 yards per rush, and 3 whole points.

2006 Fantasy Football Review – Week 1

Week 1 had a couple surprises for Ol’ Lucky Lester. I thought for sure, Larry Johnson and Randy Moss were set for big weeks, and although Larry didn’t put up a goose egg, (140+ combined yards) Randy couldn’t get much going in Oakland. As for my best starting team I could muster, here’s how they turned out….

Carson Palmer put skid marks in his panties with a 123 yard 1 fumble performance for 3 Fantasy Points… Icky!

Larry had 140+ yards, for 14 fantasy points, and although it wasn’t as much as I had hoped, I’ll take it.

LaDainian came out of the gates on fire, slowed down for a bit, but ended the game with 131 rushing yards, 18 receiving yards, and 1 TD for 20 fantasy points. Just over his average

Anquan Boldin had 4 catches for 62 yards and a TD…. 12 fantasy points in my league.

Randy Moss had 40 yards, which out numbered any player on his team with 4 fantasy points.

Antonio Gates had 20+ yards and a touchdown for 8 fantasy points.

Jeff Wilkins was a baller, kicking 6 field goals on way to becoming this years’ top fantasy kicker in the league. Can you say 21 fantasy points in my league? Championship!

The Bears scored 26 points in my fantasy league, second only to the Chargers and the Ravens.

Total Score: 108 – Next week better be better be better be….!

As for my sleepers…

Frank Gore straight blew up the show, 87 rushing yards, 83 receiving yards, and 2 rushing scores. He’s the freaking man. He had 26 fantasy points.

Matt Jones had a nice game for the Jaguars.

The Eagles had a nice game, 5 sacks and gave up only 10 points to Houston.

Ben Watson had 50 yards, but dropped a couple passes that could have made him a very nice option. Still 50 yards for a TE wasn’t bad.

Rivers, Droughns, and Burleson were poor options. What can ya do?

My wussies came through in fine fashion…

Actually Julius Jones had a nice fantasy game and Hines Ward had 50 yards and a touchdown for 11 points, so he didn’t do too bad either.

As for Brett…. YIKES! And Joey Galloway didn’t record a catch in the entire game against Baltimore, so thank me for telling you not to start him!

Check out next weeks fantasy studs and sleepers later in the WEEK!
